At last we see them. The blue ridges of the mountains, far off in the distance.
I’m glad we drove this way; we got some small appreciation for the vastness of the country and had time to ponder the expanse and the plains. Following some way along the Oregon trail we considered the hardships and the epic travels of the first Immigrant settlers, really not so very long ago. Who those men and women were. Pioneers and adventurers questing for a better life.
With Wyoming the terrain has begun to vary and undulate and now, we see them. Rising up at the horizon. Proud and solid and beautiful.
Tonight we make Glendo State Park our home. Thankful.
